These paintings are a visual diagram of the flag folding ceremony. Traditionally performed with the American flag at military funerals, the ceremony honors the struggle and sacrifice given to uphold American ideals of freedom and liberty. The images of the Suffragette, Pride, and Pan- African flag honor the struggle and sacrifice made by members of these organizations to expand civil liberties in pursuit of a more perfect union.
